Koh Tao is one of the most popular backpacker destinations in Thailand and is known for its cheap scuba diving. The island is very small but has some incredible food and no shortage of vegan and veggie options. As with the rest of Thailand, you won’t struggle to find vegan options, as a lot of Thai food like curries are naturally vegan (if you get the vegetable option). I spent a week on Koh Tao on my month-long Thailand trip, and here are some of my favourite places to get vegan and vegetarian food.

Gemini

Gemini is a Chinese noodle and dumpling place in the main town. It had quite a few veggie and vegan options, and I really enjoyed it.

Factory Café

This is a great café with so many vegan options. It’s mostly Western food, but has great smoothie bowls, vegan croissants, salads, and more. It was a little more expensive but definitely worth it!

La Carotte Qui Rit

This is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant in the centre of town with some great food. You’ll find vegan versions of a lot of Thai staples which is great.

In Touch

In Touch is on the beach and is perfect for watching the sunset with some decent food.

Monkey Cup

I’d recommend Monkey Cup for breakfast. They have good smoothie bowls, you just have to ask for no milk or an alternative.

Bambam Restaurant

Bambam is a Thai place which has some of the cheapest food I found on Koh Tao. The service was a little slow but the food was great.

Coconut Monkey

Coconut Monkey is also a must for breakfast. It’s on the beach and they had plenty of options like overnight oats, smoothie bowls, and more. Everything was amazing.

Breeze Café and Restaurant

Breeze has great wraps that are perfect for takeaway. I got a vegan wrap from here before heading out on the dive boat every day, and it didn’t disappoint.

Milk & Honey

Milk & Honey is a Middle Eastern food place a little out of the main town. It was also a bit more expensive but the food was so incredible, I have to recommend it!

There are countless other fantastic places on Koh Tao to eat, but I hope this gets you off to a good start. You won’t go hungry on Koh Tao!
