It is very easy to find vegan and vegetarian friendly food in Thailand, and Chiang Mai had some of the best places I found on my one month trip. Most curries are vegan, and if you ask for dishes without egg, restaurants are usually very happy to comply. Check for fish sauce as well! Here are some of my favourite places in Chiang Mai.

Vegan Society

Vegan Society is perfect for trying veganised traditional Thai dishes. I had a great pad see ew there.

Baan Lanna Thai Cuisine

Khao Soi, the staple dish of Chiang Mai, is usually not vegan. However, Baan Lanna Thai Cuisine is one of the places that has a vegan Khao Soi and it was amazing!

Writer’s Club

The setting of the Writer’s Club is worth it on its own. But the food was also great.

Lanna Square

Lanna Square is a night market which has loads of stalls. There is a specialised vegan and vegetarian one, but you can also find options at other stalls. It was a great vibe there with everyone eating in the middle and a stage for live music and performances. I went back several times.

Hopefully this gives you a few options to try in Chiang Mai. You won’t struggle if you go to any other restaurant though, just ask :)
