Hanoi is the perfect city for foodies, and it has an incredible number of places that cater for vegans and vegetarians. I had some of the best meals during my Vietnam trip here.
You’ll see countless places that say ‘Vietnamese Food & Vegetarian/Vegan’ next to their restaurant signs, and these are always a good option. There are also so many unnamed places on and around Beer Street which have choices for you. Here are my recommendations for places that are vegan and veggie friendly.

Katze Vegan & Vegetarian
Katze was hands down my favourite place to eat in Hanoi. You honestly have to go here even if you’re not veggie. It was incredible value for money, the kindest staff, and amazing food. To top it off, the story of its founding is so heartwarming. It’s hidden off the street, but don’t be put off by the alleyway you have to go down - it’s not sketchy at all.

Banh Mi 25
Banh Mi 25 is iconic for a reason. They have at least one vegan option for banh mis, as well as a ‘deconstructed’ banh mi. I went twice and both times it was delicious, but expect a queue.

Hong Hoai’s
While they didn’t shout about having options on the menu, Hong Hoai’s was a great place to eat, and I had a vegan Banh Xeo which was fantastic.

V Cuisine
There are countless versions of V Cuisine in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. All of them have a veggie menu as well as a regular one, and it’s great food.

Vegan Super Shop
If you’re looking for western food, Vegan Super Shop is incredible. They also have a few others across Vietnam, including in Ho Chi Minh and Da Nang. It’s obviously a little more expensive than traditional Vietnamese food, but if you’re looking for a break from fried food and the same meals on repeat, this place is perfect. It has great smoothie bowls, breakfast, and lunch options, as well as snacks and baked goods.

Banh Mi Bubble
Banh Mi Bubble is another great banh mi place in the Old Quarter with vegan options. Can’t fault it.
La Capo Café
La Capo Café is a great place for breakfast in Hanoi which has smoothie bowls!

Madam Tran Restaurant and Matto Menu
While I didn’t eat at these two places, their menus looked really good and had plenty of veggie and vegan options.
Always Café
To finish with a bit of fun, Always Café is a Harry Potter themed café which has vegan butterbeer! It’s actually a fun place to visit - you can dress up in Hogwarts gowns and drink themed cocktails and mocktails. If you’re after something different, this is it.

I hope this helps you find some places to eat in Hanoi! You won’t struggle at all, and most places will have options for you if you ask :)
