If you’re travelling through Laos, you’ll probably end up in Vientiane, its capital city, at some point on your trip. Buddha Park is the main attraction of Vientiane, and in my opinion the only thing worth visiting! It is, however, quite far out of the main city, so you will need to use transportation to get there. You can always take a taxi using the Loca app, but if you want to do it more cheaply and sustainably, you will want to take the public bus. Here is everything you need to know about getting to Buddha Park by public bus.

The Bus number 14 leaves from Talat Sao bus station every 20 minutes or so - there is no set timetable. There are signs at each bus bay at the station, and the buses are also clearly labelled with their numbers. Number 14 says Thaduae - Buddha Park on the sign. If you’re unsure, ask another driver or worker in the information booth.

It takes about 45 minutes to drive to Buddha Park, although be prepared for it to take longer. It often makes random stops, including a potentially long one at the Thai border. This is out of your control though!
The bus to Buddha Park costs 18,000 Kip (approx. 60p) for a one way trip, and you pay on the bus. Someone will come round asking for money. I would recommend telling the driver and/or ticket person where you want to get off and they will stop for you. They will know where Buddha Park is as they make stops here regularly. Sit at the front if you’re worried, so you can remind them!

Once you’re there, you can enter Buddha Park, which costs 40,000 Kip for foreigners (approx. £1.35). It doesn’t take much more than an hour to explore the whole area, but it’s a peaceful place to walk around and look at the statues.
When you’re ready to leave, the bus will come along on the opposite side of the road to where you got off. There is no defined stop, so make sure you wave to flag it down when you see it arrive. They will again take payment on the bus, and it costs the same for the return trip.

I hope this helps you find your way to Buddha Park. It’s definitely worth a visit, and is very cheap to get to! As always, take care of the places you visit, and leave only your footprints behind :)
